Client Documents

The Client Documents plugin lets staff upload files for download by specific clients. Uploaded documents appear on a "Documents" page in the client area, where the client can view and download them.

Installing Client Documents

To install the Client Documents plugin, visit [Settings] > [Company] > [Plugins] > Available, and click the "Install" button for Client Documents.

A message will be displayed, indicating that the plugin was successfully installed.

There is nothing to configure — documents are managed per client from the client's profile.

Uploading Documents

From a client's profile page, click the "Documents" link in the Actions section, then click "Add Document".

Field NameDescription
NameEnter a name for the document. This is the name the client will see, and the filename used when the document is downloaded.
DocumentChoose the file to upload.
DescriptionEnter an optional description, shown alongside the document.

Click "Upload Document" to save. The Documents page for the client lists each document's Name, Description, and Date Added, with options to Download or Delete it. Documents cannot be edited after upload — delete and re-upload instead.

Uploaded files are stored under the uploads directory (e.g. /home/user/uploads/[company_id]/client_documents/), outside the web root.

The Client Experience

Clients see a "Documents" link in the client area navigation. The page lists the documents uploaded to their account, each with a "Download" option.

Clients can only see and download documents uploaded to their own account.

Documents are deleted with the client

When a client is deleted, all of their documents (both the database records and the files on disk) are automatically deleted as well.
